Junior Training

Our junior section was established in 2014 and has since grown substantially and is positively thriving.

We are very proud at the uptake we've seen in junior membership and thrilled so many children in the area are turning their heads to a great sport that we all love. Week in, week out our dedicated coaches love to help bring the best out of your amazing children and see them making wonderful progress while enjoying themselves in the process.

Over the years our youngsters have developed a real team bond and many are maturing into very talented athletes indeed. They regularly attended junior races and competitions throughout the year with the winter cross country season a firm favourite, something in which our junior Humbugs or "Minimints" have excelled at during recent years winning many trophies.

Waiting List for Training

However, due to our success and increase in numbers we have a waiting list for junior training in operation. If you would like to add your son or daughter to the waiting list please contact our Junior Co-ordinator at juniors@trawdenac.co.uk.

Joining the Club

Even if your child is on the waiting list, they are more than welcome to join the club. Membership is just £6 for under 11s and £25 for 11+ (including England Athletics registration) with a club vest an additional £10 – full details of how to join can be found here.

Our juniors regularly take part in fell races, cross country, relays, fun runs and other events both locally and futher afield, and your son or daughter is sure to find a wealth of support and encouragement within the club.

Junior Training Policy

PLEASE NOTE: Children must be at least eight years old to attend club training sessions

Our coaches want to give their best to those that want to train and race. To ensure our training groups do not become too large to manage to the point where the quality of delivering sessions suffers, we have a waiting list for any prospective new junior members who wish to train with us. This is will be on a first come first served basis.

We also like to encourage commitment from our current junior members. We will never ask anyone to leave but will include some rules with respect to training. As a running club we do not expect or ask anyone to race, however we do of course encourage racing. We want to coach juniors who are serious about running and keeping fit, so moving forward we ask that our junior members attend training as often as possible.

Any child that does not attend training for three consecutive weeks will be asked to give up their training slot to someone on the waiting list. If they then wish to come to training again they will be added to the waiting list. Of course special circumstances will be considered if you advise us beforehand.

We hope you can appreciate the need for these rules and please see them as a positive action as we only want to provide the best coaching possible.
