Wesham 10K

JIM GARSIDE 27 NOV 2011

This year's Wesham 10K was run on a new course as unfortunately the old social club and previous start had to be pulled down, however this didn't deter the 465 strong field from running what is historically a very fast course.

Marked as "undulating" the 26th Wesham 10K was as usual fantastically well organised with plenty of encouraging marshals along the twisting country roads en route.

The course itself turned out to be relatively flat and even had a drinks station at 3.5 miles. What turned out to be a slight issue on the day was the wind which seemed to defy the laws of nature by being a 6.2 mile head wind on a circular route!

Six TACs lined up with Jim Garside first home in 38:16 (32nd) followed by Matty Haworth in 39:02 (41st). Simon Kelly was next in 42:13 (108th) followed by Dave Smith in 43:43 (139th PB). John McDonald was next home in 44:58 (163rd) with Robert Smith finishing well up in the top half of the field in 192nd clocking 46:03.

Well done everyone but the runner of the day award has to go to Dave for knocking a massive 2 minutes off his PB. That is outstanding running Dave well done.
