PBGP - Race 8 - Hendon Brook

News Details

Well apart from the rubbish start to the day weather wise, it fined up in time for the start & ended up being almost perfect conditions for this scenic, if hellish tough, race!

Despite various injuries from the Trawden contingent, me included, we had 23 runners out on this race, which is brilliant. What makes this figure more impressive is the fact that a few of you chose to make this the first long race you've ever done - you could have chosen a nice easy one, so well done!

Tom Cornthwaite from Salford Harriers led from start to finish, coming home in an extremely impressive 1.19.04 - how can people run that fast????? First overall lady was Jayne Butterworth of Skipton AC in 1.45.32.

Paul was first of the Trawden runners to return, 18th overall with a time of 1.36.14, the beers on the Pendle Pub Walk must have helped that one. Fourth lady back & first for Trawden was Fiona Hall, in 1.54.47.

Special mention has to go to Paul who turned round at the finish & ran back to meet Joanne, who was one of you running her first long race! Well, it was their wedding anniversary so congratulations to you both.

Another special mention to Fiona Pudge, who was on the verge of retirement with extremely sore toes when I saw her at Clarion House - she thought her arthritis was playing up! I also saw her in enormous pain at the bottom of Lenches, & offered to take her back but she was determined to finish. It turns out she's fractured a toe & has dislocated another!! I'm now not sure if she's brave or insane, but well done anyway!

Another good TAC day out!
