57th Annual Three Peaks Race

DEAN RALPHSON 9 MAY 2011
News Details

Well it's been long enough now for the pain to become a distant memory and for me to be able to doing a write-up about it.

We had nine runners on the start line and we had nine runners cross the finish line - one or two in rather flamboyant style...you know who you are! Strange how it seemed to be only Trawden runners playing to the crowd at the finish - and all un-rehearsed as well! So well done to everyone - great effort. We even ended up with two placings in the team rankings (teams of four club runners) - 29th & 46th.

Anyway, on to the serious stuff - it was warm but windy on the day (gale force on the tops apparently) and the 'going' underfoot was firm to, well, very very hard and dry. Support from non-running club members and their families & friends was fantastic on the day once again, so a massive thank you to y'all - cheers.

Pete Stobbs was first home, followed closely by Paul 'Speedy' Brown, both clocking in a sub four hour time! Paul managed this despite taking a big fall on the run-in off Ingleborough and taking half the skin off one side of his face. Oh and it's worth mentioning that he took a big fall on the recce run a month before the race itself, having never fallen ever before while running - maybe it's a jinxed route for him!

It's a great day out - albeit with a difficult few hours in the middle...so roll on next years event - see you all there eh?
