Yorkshireman Marathon & Half Marathon

This year's Yorkshireman was an absolute cracker! The weather was kind, marshals and support top notch, there was mud everywhere, the stew and cakes at the end as welcome as ever, and the legendary Ian Holmes even held open a gate for some of us!

Four Trawden AC members took part in the full marathon, with Chris Campbell and Dean Ralphson making their full debut. All finished inside the top 50, despite Dean suffering from bad bouts of cramp midway and Matt having been sidelined with an infection the week before the race.

I somehow managed to make it round in 3h 50m to finish 11th. Chris and Matt came in at just over 4 hours with excellent 17th and 20th places respectively.

We boasted an even more impressive field for the half marathon, with no less than ten Trawden runners taking part! Heath was first club runner home in 1h 57m finishing in a superb 30th place overall. John McDonald was second home for the club with a PB time of 2h 12m, despite the course having been extended since his previous best.

Alison and Fionnuala almost ran a pairs race and finished together in 2h 25m - well done ladies! Andy Haworth, Derrick Marsh, Colin Ashworth, Tony Macro, Joe Edumndson and Andy Hall also put in some really good individual performances.

Some of us lingered in the afternoon sun for a well-deserved pint in Haworth, and I'm sure we'll all be back next year for more of the same!
