Garstang Half Marathon

NICOLA NUTTALL 24 SEP 2012

Whilst Autumn, Derrick and Adam were enjoying the delights of Newcastle and South Shields, another hardy little group of Trawdeners took our stripes to Garstang for a half marathon fix.

The race starts from the main street in Garstang and quickly takes you out into the lanes of the countryside. It’s a lovely undulating course taking you through lots of small villages and along a farm track. There are a couple of painful hills between mile 9 and 10 but the last mile at least is downhill! The course was really well marshalled and well supported with a nice yellow mug for all finishers, which was filled with tea or coffee in the clubhouse. As the weather had not been kind, the hot drinks were very welcome indeed.

Chris and Dave finished with great times, I tried and failed to catch John on the final straight but he was in PB form and I had no chance, special mention to Jill who completed her first half marathon in fabulous style and well within her 2 hour target.
